NAMA UPDATE
27 November 2025 – The National Arts Council of Zimbabwe is pleased to announce a robust national response to the call for entries for the 24th edition of the National Arts Merit Awards. With the submission window still open, a total of 1,117 entries have already been received from artists across all provinces, signalling a vibrant and engaged arts sector.
The 24th NAMA awards ceremony will be held at HICC on 28 February 2026, under the theme “Fearless Creativity. “The data reveals a significant and welcome trend towards digital adoption, with the majority of submissions being made online through the official NAMA portal. This demonstrates the industry’s growing confidence in and embracing of technology for official processes.
In terms of categories, the Film category currently leads in the number of submissions, closely followed by Music and Visual Arts. Geographically, while entries have been received from every province, the highest volumes are from Harare and Bulawayo, with strong showings from Manicaland, Matabeleland North, and Matabeleland South.
A Crucial Reminder on Submission Requirements
The NACZ has noted that some submissions are incomplete. Many artists have successfully filled out the online form but have not yet sent the required supporting materials such as downloadable links to their work. To ensure your entry is valid and processed without delay, you must email your supporting materials to namasubmissions@gmail.com immediately after completing the online form. This step is mandatory for your entry to be considered. Artists are urged to complete this final step promptly to avoid missing the deadline due to technical incompleteness.
The awards committee has also received essential radio chart data from key stations including Power FM, Zi FM, Star FM, Sky Metro, and Radio Zimbabwe, which will inform the music category nominations.
Final Call for Submissions: Deadline 1 December 2025
The NACZ takes this opportunity to remind all artists, arts organisations, and stakeholders that the final deadline for all NAMA submissions is Monday, 1 December 2025. No entries will be accepted after this date.
